A Very Horsey Christmas

Are you looking forward to Christmas? Your stable duties won’t disappear but you will still be able to enjoy the festivities to the max. Better still, you can reflect your love of horses with the choices that you make this Christmas and that doesn’t just mean asking for that new saddle that you have been dreaming about!

Your Christmas wish list probably does have rather an equestrian theme. After all, you can never have too many stylish jodhpurs! It is always a pleasure to discover some great equestrian gear hiding under your tree. But Christmas is about giving as well as receiving. What cards are you going to choose this year?

Equestrian Charity Christmas Cards

You could simply purchase your cards from the local supermarket but it would be difficult to find any cards featuring wonderful images of horses. But if you are looking for something a little more horsey than the average Santa, there is a solution. Many equestrian charities offer fabulous Christmas cards with stunning images of horses. You are sure to find many gorgeous designs and in purchasing these cards you will be helping the charities to raise much needed funds.

Check out the cards offered by the Injured Jockeys Fund, the Mark Davies
Injured Riders Fund, Riding for the Disabled and the Spinal Injuries Association. The Racehorse Sanctuary and Rehoming Centre and the Bob Champion Cancer Trust also produce great cards. These are all worthy causes and the cards are beautiful too!

Christmas Card DIY

Alternatively, you could create your own Christmas cards and showcase your horse, your stables or horses in general. All you need is a great snap which you can reproduce and some card making materials which are available at all good hobby shops. Your Christmas cards will be truly unique and incredibly memorable. If you don’t have a suitably Christmassy or wintery image to use, take a few this year when the opportunity arises and keep them for next year.

Christmas Gifts

It can be hard to decide what to buy family and friends at Christmas. If there are equestrians amongst them then life is so much easier! Riders will never turn their noses up at new clothing and accessories and you could find out if anyone is short of affordable equipment like tubs and grooming kit. There will always be something useful that can be accommodated in your budget. For those who have yet to discover the joys of riding, why not consider treating them to a riding lesson? Now that would be a special gift.

The festive season gives you plenty of scope to reflect your love of horses, to help other riders and to introduce family and friends to equestrianism. It also gives you a wonderful opportunity to support the charities who do so much to help injured riders and needy horses to enjoy a better life.
