New Equestrian Products Promise Outstanding Benefits
The leading equestrian brands are continually researching and developing new products to make life easier and safer for equestrians and horses. The latest technology presents opportunities for companies to make improvements to the equipment and accessories that riders use. The annual British Equestrian Trade Association’s International Innovation Awards () feature the best ideas and this year’s winners have recently been announced.
The Therapeutic Power of Infra-Red
One of the award winners at the NEC in January was the exciting Protechmasta Infra-red rug from Harry Hall. This clever rug won the horse care equipment and clothing category. The rug represents a major step forward as it features ceramic material within its fibres rather than as a thin layer on the top. This means that the ceramic element does not wash or wear off. The rug also offers superior coverage which gives it greater therapeutic powers.
The new rug is currently undergoing clinical trials and these are suggesting that the rug is offering huge benefits for horses. The judges for the awards felt that the rug would appeal to both amateurs and professionals.
Harry Hall also collected the security award for its new high-visibility rug. They have designed it to make leading horses across or along roads much safer.
Tack Trolley & Supplements
Stable & Barn director Charlotte Boyes won the general category for her new tack trolley which boasts impressive functionality. She is now anticipating a lot of hard work to get the trolley to market. Meanwhile, Trilanco won the feed and supplement category with GastroKind, a supplement that has been evolved to address gastric ulcers in horses.
The winner in the country clothing category was a Gore-Tex and tweed shooting jacket for ladies by Musto. The versatility of the jacket impressed the judges, as well as its suitability for a variety of outdoor pursuits and the fact that it is machine washable. The Gore-Tex layer ensures that this stylish jacket is waterproof. In addition, they treat the tweed fabric to create a washable jacket with a traditional feel which is extremely practical.
Italian company Kask won the equestrian clothing category for its riding helmet lined with merino wool. Although Kask are best known for their ski helmets, they are now producing an interesting and stylish equestrian range too.
Pet products also featured in the awards. The Doggy Barn doggy towel won this category and would be a useful and versatile accessory for any dog owner.
Every year, companies are developing new products using the latest fabrics and technologies. As a result it is always interesting to discover new possibilities and to learn about the equipment and accessories that will be available in the near future.
